Critical Thinking in Healthcare Documentation

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Critical thinking, an indispensable skill for healthcare documentation specialists, is the process of using what you already know to discover what you do not know. The components of critical thinking–analysis, synthesis, and reflection–can be learned and improved with practice. As a transcriptionist, you must be a problem solver, detective, and risk manager. You must constantly question what you hear and evaluate it within the context of the report for coherency and reasonableness. In other words, you must be a critical thinker. Analytical thinking is the foundation for transcribing and editing efficiently and accurately.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn what critical thinking is and how it improves transcription accuracy.
2. Learn how critical thinking can help decipher dictation and improve your research skills.
3. Learn how critical thinking skills contribute to increased productivity.
